..I miss Lauren and Michael.......
Off to …..”well I’m not really sure today……but I bet I can touch the sky ……..”Today we are sending off the Trekers to ride the Honda ATVs again!....Up at 4:00 am and down to the Grocery !!!!!...it's strange to think that I woke up thinking about beautiful grocery aisle...I miss those aisles out in this vast land of Public Spaces and beautiful scenery. Anyway, I went down the quite street to get their lunch ready for the ride. Since I am a food-crazy-person I always like the way things look...it makes me feel good to know that the best turkey with Durkees dressing, and fresh croissants, bright yellow bananas, pumpkin pie squirted with whipping cream in a J and an assortment of drinks was ready for them to carry with them. I make the sandwiches and pick the meat and bread that way I know it is freshly baked bread etc. As I walk the aisles…I miss my kids- Lauren and Michael. Both on their own and doing well…they would love doing this even though they don’t know that yet….wait til they see the ATV picture of me !!!!!! LATER GATORS.

Richfield, UT...“… and here in the land of ATVs is quite the Jamboree…”
The Trekers are on the mountains on their Honda ATVs and I am looking for food……yes, food has been sometimes hard to find on this trip. **Note to food provider on next trips…always prepare double the usual amount! However, this time we are eating out…first to a Steak House and then to a Mexican Restaurant…both good and fun here in Richfield, UT. But the main thing is the ATV group. As I entered Richfield from I-70 the first thing I noticed was that I was out of place. I was certain that I had made the wrong turn and was in an amusement park…but no, it was that the ATVs were on the streets and in the gas stations and cars were not. What a scene. Once I met up with everyone and walked the streets things seemed ok. It just seemed that this was the land of make believe…and we all drove ATVs. During the stay we had a round table discussion with all the local dignitaries and more , with opinions on how things were progressing and how wonderful the event had been. The trails here are fantastic and even I hopped on the new Honda Rincor and took off for the ride of my life! To see the city from one of the highest peaks was awesome…… scary for me, but I am ready for my next ride-hopefully today again. Why can’t we just rides these in the neighborhoods…it makes perfect sense. Just to buzz around in??? I loved the bright red Honda ATV……hint ,hint…….J

Calf Creek…to Capitol Reef…to Fishlake
Sept 14-18Over the last few days we have seen all types of terrain and weather. Calf Creek Campground was located at the bottom of the Grand Staircase near Escalate. The drive to the campground was spectacular on Scenic Rt 12. While at the campground many people stopped to talk with us who had been reading the website. We were easy to find since we camped in the parking lot in everyone’s way. Usually we are in a secluded area with a bit more privacy. One of the days we took a ride on the Devil’s Backbone Trail. WOW. The bridge was fantastic. Next to Capitol Reef (second time for me) and we camped in Fruita. Here my feet actually walked on soft, green grass! What a pleasure that I have been missing. The terrain coming here was all things together…rock, colors, areas looking like burned marshmallows, green grass. The sky was again bright blue. Then off to Fishlake……and what a pleasure. As I entered the area towards Elk Horn Campground the Aspen Trees, lined on each side of the one lane dirt road, were waving to me as if I were in a parade….the sound of the leaves is musical and the colors are pale to bright yellow. As I climbed the mountains the trees became evergreens mixed with Aspen. And then out of nowhere! …..an opening where the view took your breath away…and incredible view of the desert. After a moment of picture taking we continued and finally found our area. That night we met the Mountain Men ATV group and saw campfires for the first time in many weeks. The ground was wet here and you could have a fire only in certain areas. The trails here are fantastic and should be on the return-to list.…A morning snow greeted us after a downpour of rain in the night. Everyone was pretty soaked but ready to go ATV riding the ridges…and the Trekers are off !!!!!!
