Team North is on a 20-mile overnight outfitted pack trip through the Helena National Forest. They are travelling through the Helena National Forest along the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, which like the American Frontiers route stretches from Mexico to Canada.
The Continental Divide is the watershed point for the whole country-- to the east of the trail, the rain runs into the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west of the trail, the rain runs into the Pacific. The Continental Divide Trail was built mostly by volunteers, and was finished a couple of years ago. Look at the maps to see how the route follows the ridgetops of these mountains.
